In the exhibition The world at large, installation artworks and other large, impressive artworks from the collection of Museum Arnhem can be experienced. Enter the artist's world, literally and figuratively, immerse yourself in other perspectives and go on a quest for what binds us and offers hope.
The personal, shared and new world. You will be introduced to three themes that each offer a different perspective on humanity. In The personal world, the focus is on the personal experiences, memories, and feelings of artists that will resonate with you. Work by Raafat Ballan, Meschac Gaba, Hale Tenger and Levi van Veluw, among others, is on display.
The shared world is about the world we share. In this world, artists tell stories about inequality, migration, and loss, challenging you to shift into different perspectives. Featuring work by Serge Attukwei Clottey, Sharelly Emanuelson, Erwin Olaf and Sawangwongse Yawnghwe, among others.In The new world, artists look ahead and envision hopeful futures. These artworks invite you to linger for a moment in worlds filled with joy, solace, and imagination. Worlds that may not actually exist, but do offer space to dream of a hopeful, human future. Featuring work by Fransje Killaars, Maria Roosen, Linda Stein and Sondi, among others.
A dive into the depot. You will see exclusively installations and other grand artworks from the Museum Arnhem collection. These include artworks acquired in recent years, some of which are now being shown for the first time. But also artworks that were stored in the depot for years and are now on display again for the first time in years. Such as the impressive video installation Waiting (2014) by Erwin Olaf, in which the artist forces you to a standstill.
